I have a problem with any group that lies about their privacy and security.
I haven't had a FB account for years because of that. I really dislike Zuckerberg and he needs replacing, at the least. The technology exists for them to control the bots and trolls. They say they'll do one thing but then they never quite do it. If it makes them money they want to keep whatever it is no matter how egregious.
I agree with what you say about FB. The question is how to put that genie back in the bottle or at least get a leash on them regarding Bots etc. It's obvious Zuckerberg has not installed the right checks and balances to insure real people sign up while he pursues profits.
The Privacy and security for google, Apple, Amazon and any online vendor is slightly different.
They all "track" their consumers so that they can target customers when they log onto their websites.
Home Depot is a good example. Look at lawn mower and they come back and say BTW people also looked at these other lawn mowers.
You are going to give up a certain amount of privacy if you log on. But on the same token you get the convenience as well so it is a give and take issue.
A friend of mine who still uses Lotus 123 for dos (don't ask me how he does it since he is a computer illiterate and pays someone to configure his crap) still pays all his bills by check since he fears he will be hacked. Yet he has discovered Amazon Prime and the advantages of shopping from home since he suffers from Agoraphobia. It is really quite funny to me needless to say.
The question is how do you break up google, Apple or Amazon which I consider vendors different from FB which is social media.
