Stopping Auto Updates

Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Services And Applications/Services

Doubleclick on Automatic Updates and change Startup Type to DISABLED. Then Service Status click STOP.

You will have to do manual updates with MSFT and also restart Auto Updates to get MSFT to allow any updates when you go there.
