I don't know what Jerry is using, but if you don't mind my one and a half cents, there are a lot of ways you can visualize breadth.

$ADVN-$DECN (there are other symbols, in addition, such as $ADSPD).

$TICK (ticks up or down)

and, also, go to the marketwatch page, click on visualize, get out of heat map and go to Index Watch, then click on Public, then Indices.

At the end of the day, no matter what else I do, I also go look at the short term and long term McClellan Oscillators. $NYMO, and $NYSI, respectively. I am trying to learn intra-day ways to anticipate eod data on those.
