I do not know.In the end both material and ‘ material in device’ need to be tested. For the 50G modulator that is done. Gen 2 material is in testing, donot know about device yet. Depends on what customers they are engaged with as well : Optical component companies or datacom . One may be interested in the material , the other in the device. Again in the end there is no way around it. Both need to go through rigorous testing.
