Just a few thoughts after a week-end with many great messages. In general the mood seems to have improved a lot here, after Lebby’s insightful update on LWLG’s unique competitive technology analysis and business strategy presentation.
As I stated before the reliability tests on the gen 1 material are done. ( started late q2/early q3 2018). The reliability tests on the new material should be close to 2000 hours testing (start q1 2019) if things move logically ( and with Lebby they do).
Now 2000 hours is very relevant, since it will give a good feel of degradation effects, if any, and statistical evidence of future performance. The availability of 2000 testing results is commercially relevant as well. This is when the rubber hits the road. You got a functioning device with a minimum of 2000 hours acceptabel performance ( 8 years?). The tough demands of LWLG’s customers for even 5000 hours (did I read equal to 20 years technical lifetime?) can already be assessed at 2000 hours, although actual tests will continue. Corporate bureaucracy and scepsis are typical characteristics of big companies and these tough and demanding requests lead me to conclude that we are dealing large corporations/ customers. Lebby mentionned that Facebook demanded 5000 hours from their optical component suppliers. They want absolute guarantees for performance over time. It also tells me that they have accepted the unique LWLG proposition, but want the reassurance of performance over 8 years ( 2000 hours ) of technical lifetime. I think we are
changing our customers attitude and moving from scepsis and awarenesss to adoption and application and we are deeper ‘ on the customer cycle’ than Lebby could say.
