Friend of mine is a store manager at a starbucks in the big apple.. Not only is it a cult with the customers? but the employees are the same.. Kinda weird too- once you put a quarter in him all he will talk about for hours is the various beans and what makes them so special over everyone else- not to mention that its a language within itself such as 'Blue Blast' or 'Black Eye' etc etc..
Im not a big coffee drinker, and if I want to spend $5 bucks on something it will be a joint or a six pack but the perma bears have hated this one since day 1 and I despite being a perma bear (in general) myself? I have no idea why people have so much trouble understanding how important it is for a company when you have a cult following.. Apple is what it is today for this reason (Steve Jobs obviously gets alot of credit too) and Nvidia is another one that dethroned three d f-x company on perception alone as well.. Very powerfull stuff..
I worked for a company in NJ called PNY technologies.. all the tech writeups call it the best memory you can buy- blah blah blah.. All the big boys have the best shelf space reserved for it as well.. and in reality? its all trash.. Just like DELL.. If some alien is selling product for less then the normal manufacturer? they will buy it and assemble it.. but the brand recognition is so powerfull that people dont realize they are buying utter crap.. I harbor no ill will towards my ex-employer but a fact is a fact- Kingston, Simple, no different actually..
err of course PNY scored a partnership with Nvidia which is huge and those cards are actually quality product.. but the memory products are junk.. I remember assembling 50 dell machines a few years back and unreal there were 3 different hard drives in the same model machines, various mother boards, chips, whatever they could get hands on that was cheap at the time they put in.. quality my ass..
