Bio Holds Forth on Cardiac Patent Implications:

Thanks TTT. Wow, you passed impressive long ago, so, you just get a “par” on this hole - Lol (which for you is a 2 or 1, so, not shabby!!)

Jimmy-swag...nailed it!
Yes, science right on target, thx. For others interested, this is the electrical system in play...sodium/potassium pump with calcium ion channels regulating continuous pumping action. Google - tons of stuff. Not a correction of mitochondrial homeostasis or cellular damage...as treatments consist in “shocking” the heart to reset signals which would not restore damaged cells from protein misfolding - all electrical system stimulation and some vagus nerve correlation.

2 follow on points: this is not an area of high unmet need imo. Lots of antiarrythmics out there which are safe (rythmol is mine), implanted assist devices (IED’s electronic defibrillators) and pacemakers (implanted defibrillator saved my father’s life 2 years ago from Vfib - 2 “kicks” 40 seconds apart jumpstarted the mechanism and reset proper sinus pattern), ablation surgery helps many with Afib and is a cure with little risk or side effects.

Still good to have this patent with a novel approach, don’t get me wrong, and stroke is the potentially greater threat from Afib’s. That can’t be prevented unless through minimized episodes and blood thinners because it stems from pooled blood in the chamber which can clot (within seconds of downtime) I think we have stroke recovery potential covered with A2-73 also!

Here’s a different point to consider:
Anavex has all of its current trials in the area of high unmet needs - CNS, extremely high failure rates. That’s similar to a non-diverse portfolio. It’s great that we may own and possess a Czar (Tsar?) Nikolai Faberge Egg, one of a kind, almost priceless, which we are carrying to Sotheby’s to put on the auction block or donate to a museum for all of mankind. But, we risk it all if we put all of our “eggs” in one basket, business wise. (Then EBZig, and others, either retire millionaires or sleep under bridges. Incidentally, great quote: “The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, beg in the streets, and to steal their bread.” - Anatole France Translation: Zig would be arrested... don’t kill the messenger!)

I would argue that just because we MAY be able to cure all the incurable diseases, the market is wary and would rather see some diversity, like treatments for much lower hanging fruit which will yield a dependable revenue stream, even if smaller. It’s what all businesses do, and BP’s, and investors. (And athletes...you don’t always have to make a 3pt fade, you still have to make foul shots - very high %, and layups, dunks....those are bread and butter. I doubt it’s wise to draft a player who can do nothing (absolutely nothing) but 3 pointers or long bombs airing it out - in football QB’s. Play some small ball too! A drop shot now and then makes bank. Throw change ups. Learn a great fake hand-off. These round our the game. Bourbon - We can be Secretariat, but still need some fillies to round out the field. A good track has both! We don’t have to run for the roses each race, we can take any purse that comes along. We got this. And there’s wisdom in this approach.)

So, while we are reaching for the stars, and running for the roses, and selling our gold and crystal Faberge eggs, it’s smart to have a concession for Stanley Cup Champions T-shirts at Walmart alongside a bunch of others. There is no unmet need (except in Pittsburgh, in 2019...I’ll say it before Mapman utters it! Ha!!) but, they will always sell.

I think the market likes this move - in fact, if folks are familiar with Afib’s they already know this will not cause a BP to buy us. But, they like that it is a reliable bread and butter source of income if we aren’t making the long baskets in any given game. Great business derisking - smart strategy. The market knows and likes. Let’s do a few easy indications with smaller streams...we can Usain Bolt a couple 50 yard dashes while we wait for our “eggs” to hatch.

Also, shout out to Traderpete: your post late last night about S1-R being the new buzzword as news spreads and articles appear more frequently...I can envision a “Swear Jar” atop every BP CEO’s desk with the words “Amyloid Theory” on it. They can raise dividends or buy back tons of stock as those words become verboten! Colossal mistake for each and every one involved. Painful reminder.
Yes, those words will be replaced with “autophagy” and “mitochondrial dysfunction” and “cellular homeostasis”, “protein misfolding”, “oxidative stress”, “precision medicine”, “biomarkers”.

Let’s not forget another quote to sum that ordeal up (amyloid hypothesis):

“Men heap together their mistakes and create a giant monster called Destiny.”

Was it Destiny for millions to die from AD, and CNS diseases, while the BP’s stood by their baseless theory? Let’s not call it Destiny - call it what it really was: The Ox-Bow Incident - no innocent bystanders, sorry.

And let’s not forget who said it...baltimore (BB) here’s your chance...whip it out, but, make it a true Daily Double and please make your answer in the form of a question!?

Just some thoughts on our on business development scenario.

Pleasant weekend, all!
And, Steelers welcome DBush!
