New study supports the blood test for AD and can indicate the severity of the disease.

We read about this earlier when the blood test was used with people that had the familial form of AD. What is important about this new study is it used people with the sporadic form of AD, which is the most common form. The test demonstrated that the blood concentration of Neurofilament light protein (NFL) increased with increasing severity of the disease. This trial was done with 1583 subject over several years so it is a pretty large trial.
