1step once sent me a link to an old IHDR video about an ECV (theoretical?) unit. It focuses mainly on a patented joint in the pistons suggesting an improvement on the classic positive displacement engine. While I can't trust that this video is valid anymore or ever was, it represents my basis for why I think there is a flaw to the way you are comparing the ECV to turbines, because what you are really comparing is a positive displacement engine to a turbine, and I am not certain whether that is fair or not. I guess that's why certification is so important though.
