At the core of it is the grievance nurturing notion that somebody else is getting something they don't deserve and I'm being taking advantage of.

While true for most everyone at some point in their life, so too is it true for many that they DO get something they don't deserve and that they ARE taking advantage of someone else.

Few will admit to the latter, so they jump up and down about the former. Because it feels better to blame someone else, I guess.
