The NDX is more volatile than the nasd ( ^ixic ) and goes up faster in a bull market
I use to give that to all the "index funds" having inflow/outflow and having to buy/sell
more of the big caps in a weighted index.
Recently I have come to believe that some of the spikes in the NDX vs the IXIC is
to some extent because more shorts are playing more of the NDX stocks than
the IXIC ..
----
NOTE the set up for a down turn is harder to call than an upturn, but particularly
watch "IF" the ^IXIC out runs the NDX a lot ( during an up trend )
When this happens the thinner float stocks are getting over bought
and the market is running "thin legs"
----
When the NDX is the strong one, then the market has stronger legs.
