New lawsuit against unpaid work during shutdown includes border patrol officers
As “essential” federal workers continue working without pay—and with a paycheck due, but not coming, in the next couple of days—workers from a second union are suing. Last week, workers belonging to the American Federation of Government Employees filed suit alleging a violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, echoing a successful lawsuit from the 2013 government shutdown. The named plaintiffs in that case were corrections officers. This time, the plaintiffs are—wait for it—Customs and Border Protection officers! Apparently they’re not all excited about the shutdown, no matter what Donald Trump tells you. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/1/10/1825078/-New-lawsuit-against-unpaid-work-during-shutdown-includes-border-patrol-officers
