Mononuclear dendritic cell precursors can be isolated from a variety of organisms that can elicit an immune response. These organisms include animals, including, for example, human and non-human animals, such as primates, mammals (including dogs, cats, mice, and rats), birds (including chickens), and their transgenic species.
