When I first started voting I didn’t follow politics at all so I voted for whichever candidate my staunchly Conservative Republican father voted for.

When I got married, my husband never understood why I voted Republican since he was big Union man and the Democrats were definitely more Union friendly than the Republicans were. He felt I was voting against my own interests.

It took me awhile to realize that the Democratic Party were more in tune to the way I felt and they were definitely more interested in the middle class than the Republicans were.

Starting with Bill Clinton, my voting history (Presidential anyway) switched from Republican to Democrat.

It wasn’t until this past year that I actually changed my voter registration to Democrat so that I could also vote in the primaries.

That’s not 100% true. I actually changed from Independent to Republican the year that Rudy Giuliani ran so I could vote AGAINST him in the primary. Unfortunately I did it too late so I couldn’t vote anyway.
