Pyrr,
The patent issues were hashed over ad nauseum years ago on the Yahoo board in real time as they were being issued, and again as the deal with Teva came to fruition. I think North, who has extensive background in patent law, provided a lot of the insight. I have always found his observations to be credible and not pushing an agenda other than understanding the facts and the lay of the land as he understands it. He is an expert, and I have faith in his analyses in this regard.
I do appreciate you raising the issue; I think it's good to air these questions, but my observation is that you seem to get overly vested. I am not among those saying you should go away, nor belittling you because you were on the other side of this event. You made a good case for why you believed your case to be true. Fortunately for many here, we had looked at the breadth of the V case, at the science, and the method of action, and the existing data--primarily JELIS, but also ANCHOR, that gave very clear clues regarding what the outcome was likely to be. You had a lot of good company, including a preponderance of the medical establishment; we had a dozen or so long-term shareholders with an array of backgrounds and analytical skills who had a depth of knowledge and understanding that, it turns out, were greater than pretty much any brokerage firm's or research university. That is incredibly unusual, given the complexities of the CVD-triglyceride-T2DM interactions with Vascepa. Again, giving credit where it is amply due, JL's background and intelligence wrt understanding the biochemical processes of the human body, and how they could come into play with esterified EPA was pivotal.
Also needing to be noted is the researchers and management at Amarin. There were many times they were being ridiculed for their approach and convictions. It turns out they were right and everyone else was wrong, which is why a lot of us found ourselves wealthier this week than last. They could have closed up shop many times. There was pressure on them to do so. They persevered, and not only do we benefit, but the entire world benefits through a paradigm shit in treatment of a major killer of millions annually.
