Not sure if I should waste my time. I remember you now. Last time I wrote on this board, you had the same prickly little attitude and when you couldn't take what you dished out, you deleted anything that seemed to contradict what you thought were the facts. QCOOM hasn't done anything since that time a few years ago. Your little one sided history lesson is what keeps small minds from looking beyond what is really there.
If your care to fight (by saying I'm drinking cool aide), fine. Analysts, press, IPR tracking orgs, have all written and stated that IDCC holds more WCDMA patents than any other IPR holder. Do you know what WCDMA is as opposed to CDMA? It is the difference between dial up and broadband. 3G is broadband, 2G is dialup. If you need to me to state it a bit simpler, I can. Or, I can speak a bit slower, if you like.
While any company, including QCOM can say that they own it, it'll be proved in the courts. QCOM isn't there yet with 3G, so I'm not sure you aren't being retro and pining for the 90's again.
BTW - IDCC has signed many of the big boys, some of the names you haven't heard of yet because the phones are branded by others, but these manufacturers sell more 3G handsets than NOK does today. In fact, IDCC has signed with those who are currently making and selling over 75% of the 3G handsets today. Ummm. Were you aware of that?
Those who are willing to take some risks and capture marketshare by jumping into the 3G market and become today's and the future's first movers.
Sorry to bust your baloon, but you ought to do a bit more research, or take what I'm saying as reason to investigate a great opportunity.
I noticed QCOM hasn't done much in the past year, two, three . . . near its 52 week lows and very far off it's highs this year alone.
Perhaps you ought not fall in love with you own cool aid, sober up, and take a good look at IDCC. I like you will find the comparisons striking, and if you wish to see history repeat itself, you might pull the wool from you eyes look into IDCC with a bit more vigor, discipline, and analysis, then take a look at the chart and see if you might want to change you mind.
Here's a history lesson for you. There was a time when one well know analyst thought QCOM was worth $1,000. It's been a few years since then and QCOM isn't anywhere near that. You are right the street does value companies on the future and not on the past. Where does that put QCOM's $1,000 price point today? There's a lot of past to be caught up to there. I think QCOM might never reach that point, EVER, or maybe in about 20 years. NOT.
You will need to apologize and then thank me later, that is if you don't get depressed by this note and begin binging on your cool aide.
Good luck.
