Big Pharma can't be ignorant of this... They must have known this for 20 years or more.

Well, considering what we have seen on processes like "Evergreening" and all the knowledge/tools/academic resources/private sponsors available you might expect more activity. BP does have resource controls and they will decide what gets approve/budgeted and who gets support. People who do not fit get blackballed.IMO, the funding process seems to not produce as many well developed theories as one would expect. The pieces are all there but there is no pattern to go by and incentives to take risks are non existing. No budget then no staff, no resources, lab space, equipment...research tools are mega $$$.

Not a big conspiracy guy but it does seem like a kind of vacuum exists. For example, what is going to take the place of the Amyloid hypothesis when it is finally exhausted? They are still beating that one long after multiple last calls. Agree, does not make sense. Money does talk.
