It's not just investment in the Alzheimer's drugs that is holding Big Pharma back. It's the fact that if Anavex proves that mitochondrial dysfunction is the root of progressive CNS disease (and maybe cancer too) a whole lot of faux treatments that actually cause mitochondrial dysfunction go off the market...

Almost the entire portfolio of CNS and psych drugs (also antibiotics, statins and other drugs) would suddenly need to be quantified for mitochondrial side effects. Ultimately most would go off the market IMO.

This is a doomsday scenario for the pharmaceutical industry.

IMO - more like the Titanic hitting an iceberg. Perhaps that is Missling's point.

Remember the freighter BIIB cant stop, turn or backup until it reaches the port. Will it have any cargo? IMO history will judge the head of Biogen based on how he manages a deal, if any, with Dr. Missling based on what I am witnessing. MS only? Maybe he just feels he has time and can muscle us around until then. Maybe they are cose to hammering out and announcing a multi billion dollar deal, who knows at this point but with trials starting soon that time is rapidly approaching.
