Biogen just outed themselves. Like Tessio in “The Godfather”.
Hypothesis: You are a high school girl. A male classmate asks you to the prom as his date. You turn him down...maybe several times.?
You announce that you intend to go to the prom alone and entertain dancing with every boy who asks you.
The very next day(!), the original boy who wanted to date you SO BADLY announces that HE is going to the prom and will bring several of his girl “friends” and outdo you.
Question: Do you think he’s “over you”? Or out for revenge or trying to up the ante on negotiations?
(For those who don’t get this three act play: Anavex is the girl, Biogen (we now know...) is the one who wants her for his own (but she has turned him down...for now...), and the resulting behavior should be understood be anyone/everyone who has ever been a teenager, seen a teenager, or played a shill game.
It’s pharmaceutical melodrama and gamesmanship.
As Sally Field would say, “They really really like us!!” (And want us BAD.)
You don’t need to be Scorsese, or a parent of teens to figure this one out.

And, in case you don’t buy this, Jeff Cummings (on our SAB) offered a comment that the trial/drug looked promising. Wonder who pointed the media in HIS direction?

Please note: Biogen’s drug still has 10% brain swelling (so, mild acne, in our analogy), has concocted its own battery of tests - unconventional (so, cocky with an attitude), has not released the degree of statistical significance, takes 18 months to work, missed its primary endpoints but hit the secondary which were longer time to work (over one year) and these test scores (cherry picked).
Also, if these are promising, consider that they are still working on their other AD MaB trial at great cost.
They released results and plans to discuss ways of going forward with the FDA one day after we announced ours and they announced after hours.
