Generally when someone dies, the remaining parties will pay for an annoucement in the newspapers to let all creditors know of their death. The creditors have six months from the date of the annoucement to collect any monies. After the six months, the surviving parties are no longer liable for any unpaid accounts. Those accounts become voided.
