SlateColt--VISTA ULTIMATE requires a TPM. Plus the primary focus is on the Consumer(ie ENTERTAINMENT, BABY!!!).
Many on this board take the position that every significant media player inside the world-wide entertainment industry will be too dumb or too cowardly or too whatever to exploit the TPM inside Vista Ultimate.
Will every significant media player turn their back on these mind boggling features being introduced for the very first time to the almighty CONSUMER? How does MS intend to make VISTA ULTIMATE a monster hit? By offering warmed over meat loaf content? VIIV hooks into Vista Ultimate Media Player. Why does it seem a stretch for so many here that VIIV would not offer a small portion of its content as premium content requiring use of a TPM? Or Xbox?
Check out what is about to be unleashed to the CONSUMER!

"Windows Vista Ultimate targets consumers who want every feature of Windows Vista. A particular target is high-end laptops used at both home and at work. While Microsoft says this will be a consumer edition, and not eligible for volume licensing, it will be a full superset of Windows Vista Enterprise and so will offer businesses without SA or an EA a way to get features such as MUI and BitLocker Drive Encryption."
