Those "shorting numbers" are usually FINRA's daily short "VOLUME" data.

Those numbers have absolutely no relationship to short INTEREST or open short positions...but because they use the word "short" many think or want to believe it is the same thing.

It is not. Short VOLUME is the most misunderstood and misrepresented information there is in the OTC. And many stock promoter run websites like OTCShortReport take advantage of general lack of understanding as to the difference between short VOLUME and short INTEREST to lead gullible investors into believing their stock is being shorted.
