The Repub majority has 2 choices:
-continue to blame past administrations and do nothing
OR
-work to fix the problem, beginning with rejecting $$$ from the NRA
I'm sorry to say, those that feed off of NRA contributions and lobbying efforts will not do anything to jeopardize that money. Politics has become a money game.
Until we do something like cap campaign spending in seeking election, it will be the will of those that donate the most.
Does it make sense that a candidate must spend $1 Billion (with a B mind you) to run for office? Could it be more fair if each presidential nominee were limited to say $200 million? Senators limited to $100 million, Representatives to $50 million? ETC. And perhaps there should be limits on Lobbying money as well. I am not suggesting these figures as how much exactly each should be allowed, but, if each were limited to a certain amount, elections would be more about issues than mud slinging campaign ads and alliances to the largest of their campaign donors. As it stands now, it comes down to out & out bribery. There can be no other name for it.
Our government is for sale and party leadership is more about the ability to raise money for the Party than the qualifications of party leaders.
