Aixman, Re: While AMD64 can run 32-bit code just fine, IA64 needs fully recompiled code to get the full speed. So, once somebody goes to IA64, adding AMD64 is really straightforward. Is not it a wonderful setup?

It's a wonderful setup for Intel, since they will always get programs ported to them, first. Can you imagine what leverage that offers? And by the evidence, it looks like Intel already has hundreds of applications ported, while AMD struggles through their first couple dozen.
