Chipguy - But AMD is a tiny financially troubled
vendor held in little confidence by major OEMs. AMD64 will
NEVER become dominant without Intel's backing.

Do you ever wonder how companies become dominant in a certain market in the first place? While it is true that maintaining dominance is a lot easier than acquiring it, one can observe new market leaders emerging on a regular basis.

Intel is big and strong now and AMD is small and as you say financially troubled. Are things always gonna be like this? Who can know in advance?

Regardless, AMD64 is a quite compelling story, and has a bigger chance to succeed than anything they have had so far.
