The race for the dominant computer architecture is over. With AMD64, the x86 line has won. It's done, done, done and AMD64 is the ultimate winner!

If x86-64 was introduced whole-heartedly by Intel it truely
would be unstoppable. But AMD is a tiny financially troubled
vendor held in little confidence by major OEMs. AMD64 will
NEVER become dominant without Intel's backing.

Ever heard the expression "the race doesn't always go to
the fastest, or the battle to the strongest. But that's the
smart way to bet!"? That truly applies here. Major OEMs will
bet the company on Intel, they won't on AMD.
