Geez, you guys got *seriously* snake-bit!!!

Can't wait to get your long-term impression of the W8. Almost had the wife talked into a Passat a while back, but she just couldn't relate to how important I felt it was to get the W8 version. The Passat itself seems to be a wonderful car. The W8 engine seems awesome!

Just about a month ago I replaced the rear axles in the Stang with new heavy-duty ones from Baer to the tune of $250 for the pair, if I remember right. The left one was pretty badly bent.

Well, well, well...

The dreaded clicking of a brake caliper being moved too far left and right returned toward the end of my last track weekend. I've got the car up on stands in the workshop right now, and it looks like *both* axles are bent again! Nowhere near as much as the other one was, but bent nonetheless.

Mind-blowing!

Working up the resolve to go back down there and tear it all back down again. Will try just replacing the bearings and seals and putting it back together to see how it looks, but I'm not optimistic. I just can't imagine this car having enough power or brakes to be this hard on axles. With a stone-stock engine (albeit through 3.73's) and the car never being launched from a stop, it just can't be caused by power.

Actually, sitting here trying to decide right now whether to go ahead and dig into the Mustang (knowing I'm likely looking at another expensive pair of axles and then only if I find an obvious culprit like bearings -- should've replaced them with the axle change, but they weren't in stock and I didn't have time to wait) or try once again (likely in vain) to find the massive oil leak in the SHO. Since my heart's not really into the next two events I'll likely end up doing, the SHO would definitely be good enough if it will quit leaking so much oil.

Edit: I'll be insulted if you guys drive to OK or back from there and don't stop by. Only minutes (well, several of them) from I-35.
