Hi Bob, Down at the Veale Auto Warehouse we gained four pistons yesterday along with considerable horsepower. I think we'll have to get more hay to feed them critters.
After a 20 year love affair with my 1982 Fiat Spyder (great track instruction tourer) and three years of wonderful luxo riding in our 1986 XJ6 Jag Vanden Plas I let them both be collateral.
We now have shifted to one of the other Axis countries. Germany. Brought home a new 2003 Passat W8 along with a short wait for the 2004 VW Touareg until next week. The Passat gives us something for 4 adults and gives me my second 8 cyl. in recent months. Not quite a 5.0L Stang, but with 270 ponies on tap in the higher revs, it's sweet. The Touareg gives me enough towing capacity to haul the Pumpkin Cobra around when needed.
Wisconsin DOT was silly enough to give me a "Hobbyist" plate for the Cobra, but it's really not that happy on the street with the heavy springs it is currently using (500lb front, 300lb rear). Pete Wilson closed a deal on another FFR Cobra racer and will be heading to Oklahoma soon to fetch it home. I may ride along with him. (I suggested one-way tickets and take our helmets, but that idea hasn't gone too far yet!) (I wonder what the Speed Record for a trip from OK to WI might be????)
Anyway, Edgar is also on the look-out for yet another FFR racer. Pretty soon we'll have a fleet of them!
Next weekend is the Shelby Club event at Road America. I'm looking forward to it.
Best regards, Tom
