That is accurate for EPIC, but not for AMD-64.

"New software development" is not really required. All it takes is porting existing code. (Yes I know that it is indeed more than recompilation - but it is obviously not a matter of many man-years. Iaw there is not huge money to spend for the software people for AMD-64. Allows for a sticker "64-bit enabled" (or something similar), which should be expected to offer enough competitive advantage at the Point-of-Sale to be close to a no-brainer to do that. Dont forget, Windows-AMD64 is announced already. K.
