Good post YKR this really does explain what is going on in Chile and the fact that the courts have agreed in some instances and not in other there must be some money exchanging hands. The fact that this should have been over and it still remains in progress shows the intense battle that is taking place. This spells out the battle but the one thing that is still up in the air is what happened to (On about June 19, 2006 the 14th Civil Court (with Judge Maria Isabel Reyes Kokisch presiding) issued a
judgment in favour of Jorge Lopehandia. ) I know that Barrick sued on this decision and then nothing else. To have this still going would probably mean that alittle grease is being spread around or the power elite is now having there way with the decisions. It seems odd that the SMA would reduce the fine to Barrick or is it the fact that they are leaving Chile for good so kick them out and get paid what you can. One wonders the fact that Barrick is gone from Chile if they will pay the fine or not. It will be very interesting to see if Barrick does try and dig a tunnel or if that is just more propaganda. Time will tell.........
