In a winter in which the offers are slow in coming for the top five free agents — Martinez, Eric Hosmer, Yu Darvish, Jake Arrieta and Alex Cobb, who all figured to break banks with contracts of six or more years — the word “collusion” has once again been floating around. But as a number of baseball execs have told me, it ain’t collusion, it’s common sense.
