The Railroad was taken out by the 1935 Labor day storm...I don't think there was a road way connecting at that time
I'm not sure if Donna in 1960 took out any of the connecting Bridges but Donna is what Irma reminds me of most...it hit Ft Myers hard...My Grandmother lived there at the time (It is the house my sister is living in now) we bought the house down the street in 64 and they were still talking about Donna...they had an 7-11 foot storm surge...the tops of the Palm trees in front of our house were bent over sideways...we moved there in the Summer of 64...Isabel struck in October..125 MPH winds...went through mainly at night...THAT'S when the top of our pine tree came down on our roof ..LOL
