Just a thought. If Serge was trying to use the stock market as his piggy bank, why would he stop the ability to trade. He wouldn't would he?

Your post asks why would he stop the ability to trade, as though he intentionally stopped it from trading.

I think that once he realized that the company stock was in jeopardy of being revoked, he made a last-ditch effort to try to prevent it. You may recall that there was a flurry of financial filings that were made in an attempt to become current. However, it turned out to be too little too late.
