The tests were done by extracting mouse mitochondria and then putting them into a "respiration buffer" or "appropriate buffer" and then conducting various tests using various compounds and combinations of compounds.

Therefore, the tests done in the poster are "in-vitro" tests.

As such, they can only be used for very narrow purposes.
