the beauty of Intangibles only come into play when you have a bunch of good players around you
The sense and timing to execute The Flip and The Dive were intagibles that came into play because of Jeter. (see my photo).
The sense to when to take an extra base, the ability to time an over the head (ala Jerry Rice) catch, the ability to time and execute a relay to cut off the runner at the plate, the skill (ha ha) to lead and motivate teammates on the field, dugout, etc., being in the right place at the right time, hardly any mental mistakes, the ability to handle pressure with the game on the line, being able to concentrate when a great reliever is throwing at you and got everyone else out, the class attitude that maybe once in awhile gets things to go his way such as a strike non call, and on and on and on. These are all of Jeter's skills, abilities and knowledge that manifests in intangibles that are his.
To really appreciate those and other intangibles that Jeter possess, you have to see him day in and day out.
ESPN announcers always extol Jeter's virtues, as do Managers, General Managers, HOF'ers, former and contemporary ball players.
