alohamart, It is perfectly legitimate to be skeptical of Wave's news flow. But to form a useful conclusion, you would need to discount some factors:

First, Intel is part of a multi-industry group defining a new architecture for the PC based around a TPM chip. Their endorsement is clearly valuable in this context.

Second, the Intel release defined a specific timeline for deployment. This speaks of detailed planning underlying the PR, a rollout schedule, and a release that is quite distinct from almost every comparable communication from Wave.

Third, while Wave's deployment may initially be with one line of Intel motherboards, the rate at which Intel cranks these out represents a huge uplift on Wave's current deployment rate (effectively zero). So while, say, a million boards per quarter is not especially significant to Intel, that number is massively important to Wave.

Fourth, the Intel PR raised considerably the level of certainty surrounding Wave's ambitions. More than anything, the price move represents a significant erosion of the risk associated with this investment. Not that risk is absent, just that it is now significantly decreased.

Fifth, the fact that Wave has been working with and demonstrating a product with IBM suggests that there is mutual interest in the functionality - even if that interest may not be entirely equal. It remains to be seen whether IBM grants Wave direct access to its TPM customer lists, but this would not be inconsistent with the statements made thus far.

Skepticism is a pretty easy road to go down. Sometimes it takes you to the place you want to go. Other times, it's just a cast of mind. You may want to think about treating your own skepticism skeptically.
