Are the shorts at all a factor? The last report shows a short position of 3 MM shares or so, while higher than before, it does not seems that significant when compared to the volume in the last few days. I know you people do not like comparisons with RMBS (and I don't understand why not, since they are doing quite well for now), but when RMBS run from about $60 to $470 (or post split, $15 to $120) from about January 2000 to March of the same year, a lot of the fuel for the run came from the very heavy short position. Unless a bunch of shorts have started to short on the break of $1 recently and these numbers do not yet appear in the released statistics, that element may not be present here.
