Biotech companies with a low institutional following like AVXL are a prime target for stock manipulators. Often large tranches of stock in small companies are tied up in the hands of controlling interests, management, family interests or other connections who are not ready sellers. The AVXL recent trading patterns have been somewhat odd. I would vigorously counsel unsophisticated investors to steer well clear of this one for now. A good entry point would be in the low 2's. I expect a major pullback in the coming days.
