That's why I also warn against inscrutable business plans or always hitting street earnings projections (perfection is a red flag). Enron did pay a dividend, a token one. Scams rarely want to share their cash with the marks.

The fact that Poster Boys Enron and Arthur Andersen blew up >14 years ago shows how clean the 2,500 stocks on the NYSE have been since.

Note too that such clean stocks have performed very well, raising dividends and appreciating nicely.
