Thanks RK. Read through the other abstract you posted as well (it takes me a while to get through those). :)

Anyway, interesting stuff about sarcomas. My step-father died from a soft-tissue sarcoma. He'd been a pilot with Delta, retired early, and then went to New Zealand with my mom because he'd always wanted to go there and hadn't yet. That was probably around 1992/93.

Anyhow, he felt something when doing sit-ups that didn't feel right. When he returned, he went to the doctor who diagnosed the cancer. It was something like 12 inches long. He and my mom told me, but didn't tell me the prognosis - probably didn't want to worry me. So I looked it up on google and found a abstract for a study done at Hoag Hospital (interestingly near me) that showed how 20 out of 20 patients had died within two years with that particular type of sarcoma. So I knew then that his days were numbered. I did do a 10 hour oral history of his life with him. I think he really enjoyed doing that.

I can only think how if he'd lived to see these times, he could have had a completely different outcome.
