They are as close as you can find in the stock market and in many ways they are better in terms of risk. We knew NTI was venture capital owned and taken public, so when they sold the GP it was only time until the takeover happened.
ALDW has access to cheaper crude geographically as does NTI. Both are single refinery MLP in a 3 only category. The other being CVRR and Carl Icahn has total control over there. CVRR has two refineries in the center of the country and when both run full bore with no unplanned events could produce more free cash then any. That said it has had some issues and repairs lately so when they get past that the payout could be better, but at the moment and for the next 6 months, imo, ALDW is likely to shine and return us more yield. Our DD shows ALDW's refinery is near or on top of margin per barrel.
Additionally... We are anticipating asphalt production, as per our local logistics manager and board poster Catdaddyrt, to surprise the market to the upside in these summer months.
