Hi Grabber, Re: CGNX and my history with AIM............
A very dear friend and a great stock picker, Bob Hamilton, first told me about CGNX way back in the '90s. I think I owned the stock for well over a decade. He bought it for solid fundamental reasons as a growth stock. A couple of years later he had sold it for a nice cap. gain while I let AIM manage it.
It also became one of my PIC List stocks eventually. Here's a graph showing it through around 2007.
Note that it had been sliding for a very long time yet, there was still a gain of +40% showing. That was from previous years of trading with AIM.
My friend was always jealous that I'd stayed with CGNX through multiple cycles and kept building the position. He had his one profitable ride and then moved on. It's nice when we have a good friend to help us pick stocks. It's nice when AIM helps us manage those holdings over many market cycles.
