The basic Zune will be very cheap, with a two year subscription to ZuneTunes. Fancier models with touted features such as WiFi will be more expensive, of course. (The subscription service bit combined with non-PlaysForSure DRM is what convinced the media companies to allow the WiFi sharing between customers, all locked into the same plan and royalty stream.)

Of course, if you don't renew your subscription, your Zune is your new pet rock, and all 'your' entertainment is just gigabytes of pseudorandom trash.

Then again, this whole Zune thing could just be a belated April Fools joke from the Merry Pranksters of Redmond...
