Agreed re: USD. I have most of my penny money in Canadian stocks (BKMP, EQBM, etc...) right now due to similar concern. And am unwinding larger cap positions.

Pretty tough to have confidence in the USD with the gov't deficit spending hundreds of billions on Iraq/Afghan wars, with Iran potentially on deck.

Plus the very real (imo) reality of another 9/11-scale attack.

I live in Seattle and am dating a woman in Vancouver, so cross the border weekly and keep track of the currency chart which seems to have a pretty clear trend:
