You are absolutely right to encourage others to call the IR departments. I know from personal experience that investors are often afraid of being seen as dumb or new to the game. Ironically, IR people are always eager to be of service. That is precisely the thing that they want and, therefore, pursue.
IR individuals are the ones who arrange for investor packets and related materials to go out to brokerages and self-directed individuals. They are the contact people connecting the company with its investors. And they are nearly always on the phone with callers. Their mission is to smooth out wrinkles, helping each investor grasp the depth of corporate initiatives so as to bring clarity to inherent investable value for each interested party.
