re: not enough memory & Arachne's DOS browser
Three Cheers for PW :o)
Thanks, and yes while i removed all not needed programs
from being run, i did that dummy and removed the moving
of the DOS OS from conventional memory to that high memory,
which doskey.com and smartdrv.exe can also run there
with the appropriate device drivers etc set up'ed.
I booted DOS in and not in the high memory area
and got the following "largest executable program size"
634K
592K
====
or an extra 40K bytes available in conventional memory
to run the DOS browser, but still got same memory error.
I'am gonna have to go back to the user manual and relearn
this memory stuff. I think Windows uses the extended memory,
those 4 Megabytes memory chips that came with my pc
that i later replaced with 32, but most likely this DOS browser
was not written to use extended memory, but expanded memory,
and i know i do not have that card in my pc, but i remember
that the extended memory can be emulated into expanded,
so i'll look into that incase thats the need of the DOS browser.
