re: performance, how applicable are single-core benchmarks in real-world usage in a multithreaded OS?

my own empirical experience:
my galaxy note 2 was much smoother and faster than my iphone 4s.
granted, note 2 was released a year later.
but the performance gap was significant.

but my core point is efficiency of actually using the phone.
and i maintain my opinion that android+TW was far more efficient for me within days of switching, despite being much more familiar with iOS after several years with iOS phones.
