If you were to ask me, I don't think Woodford knew, so I'm not accusing him of purposefully placing Ondra in this position.
In fact, that really makes no sense because having Ms. Wolf privy to information she shouldn't be privy to (serving on MacroCure's board) does nothing to benefit Neil Woodford's investment here. Most likely, he simply chose Ondra because he's worked with them in the past and found their work acceptable to him.
Ms. Wolf was probably chosen as one of the partners to meet with NWBO because she is American, and has a background in healthcare. She's closer, and knows the industry. Linda probably first trusted them, since Woodford had recommended them... but with Ms. Wolf's probing questions, grew suspicious.
Now... is this the first Woodford is hearing about this? Or did he find out about this previously? Either way, I posit he didn't know about her relationship with MacroCure. I'd think he'd be none to happy to hear of it.
Hopefully, he'll understand why Linda might have chosen, then, to take a closer look at Freeh, since perhaps she didn't take such a close look at Ondra first.
