Is this possible?
By reading the article, the gentleman was an individual who loaned money to companies that he had no relationship with. It was a business, and he was in the business to make money. If I understood the article correctly, it was impossible for him to lose anything.
In this scenario, it is a family that is trying to make sure that they won't have to be at the mercy of a company such as that. Perhaps, maybe ideologically, because the shares/loans are at the mercy of his daughter, as soon as there is a possible way to erase it, the company (the father) is able to regain control of the shares, and thus it is no longer tainted.
Is that at all possible? Whether or not it sounds fantastical, is it possible?
