It could have been handled better no doubt. Not possible to leash a Dale personality and besides why pay an exceptional wage to have a free thinker hired specifically as such to tow the line?

Either the fit works or it doesn't. I think he shook up the guts of Destiny enough to facilitate a change of direction and thought and for that I salute his tenure.
